OMNI in Fayetteville, Arkansas -- Going Solar and Fighting the Good Fight!

The world's on edge, waiting for the next shock. We're doing all we can to make it better, but sometimes things seem hopeless. We need each other, friends. Here are some of the places and people who are feeling the same way and doing something about it. Come and connect.
Thank you Fayetteville, and a special thank you to Terry Tremwel for amazing help! Install day Saturday Nov 4 (weather permitting)

The Solar-on-the-Roof Project kicked off August 26, and Fayetteville responded. The big one this week is that Terry and Margaret Tremwel donated all 19 solar panels needed, which we estimate would cost us $5200!!

Because of this big gift, we're now within $1000 of what we need to complete the project, and feel confident we can get underway. Installer Flint Richter of Richter Solar is working with us to get the details together, and the install date is set (allowing for weather).

We want to include YOU on the commemorative panels that will adorn OMNI's walls for all eternity. Anybody who donates to the project will be listed, with special gifts acknowledged on the Memory Tree in the main room. If you'd like to be among the final donors, please make your donation now. You can drop donations off at OMNI (like most of y'all did), or make donations at the project donation page here:

ps: If you made a cash donation at the Aug 26 kickoff event, and didn't leave us your name, please call us! 479-283-2167

RESULTS!
Thursday Oct 19 - 6:00 pm - Fayetteville Library

Join Jan VanSchuyver and friends for a special advocacy workshop. Only a few seats still open.

"How can I make a difference?" It's a question many of us are asking these days. In addition to helping locally, many are turning to advocacy - influencing Congress to make decisions that impact lives in a positive way.
This workshop will clear up some of the mystery of advocacy and empower you with takeaway tools that you can begin using immediately to influence your members of Congress for a better world.
Brought to you by RESULTS, a grassroots advocacy organization committed to end of poverty, this workshop will use global poverty issues as our centerpiece issue of the night as we learn and practice new tools, but these tools are highly adaptable to many issues you may care about.

Women of Conscience: Resisting While Existing
Monday Oct 23 - 6:00 pm - Rolling Hills Baptist Church, 1400 E. Rolling Hills Dr.

Ann Wright returns to Northwest Arkansas to talk about the world from a global peace activists perspective. Ann is a Rogers native with a long history of diplomatic and military service, who retired rather than follow orders against her conscience about war in Iraq. She took up full time peace activism and has since been covering the globe. For this visit she wants to talk about the situation with North Korea, and the women have asked for her thoughts on how to be a person of conscience in the sphere you're given. It should be a thought-provoking talk!
The Bail Trap: American Ransom
Weds Oct 25 - 6:30 pm - OMNI Center
Movie and discussion led by Jon Comstock, Sponsored by OMNI and NWA's Liberty Initiative

Money bail is one of the main feeders of America's mass incarceration system – and yet something most Americans know very little about. Brave New Films is producing a series of short films to change that.

The money bail system is broken: Low-income Americans are sitting in jails for days, months, and even over a year simply because they can't afford to pay bond amounts. The reality is that a great many people are in our county jails for one simple reason: being too poor. This is both morally and legally wrong. We have laws and Court Rules in Arkansas that if followed could provide immediate relief while recognizing the need for safety and honoring the presumption of innocence.

He moved on to a summer working at the Permaculture Convergence in South Dakota, and is now moving from disaster to disaster helping with clean ups and support while he advocates for peace, justice and the earth.

Every once in a while, if you have a bit of cash to donate to causes, keep him in mind. Sharin' the love.
